College ROI Overlay (the “Extension”) is a Chrome browser extension that displays objective U.S. government college statistics (U.S. Department of Education College Scorecard / IPEDS) as inline badges on supported college search/application sites (Common App, Niche, BigFuture). This policy explains what data the Extension does and does not handle.
The Extension has a single purpose: to overlay public government college data as reference badges on supported U.S. college pages. It has no other functionality.
The following is stored locally via chrome.storage.local on your device only,
and is never sold or transferred to third parties:
The Extension connects only to:
api.data.gov (College Scorecard) — or a first-party proxy that forwards
requests to it — to retrieve public school statistics, queried by school ID only.extensionpay.com — to manage the optional one-time purchase (handled by
ExtensionPay/Stripe; the Extension never receives your card details). It connects to no other servers and does not execute remote code.
This Extension’s use of information received from web pages adheres to the Chrome Web Store User Data Policy, including the Limited Use requirements. We do not collect personal data, do not sell user data, and use on-device storage only for settings, comparison lists, an optional API key, and purchase status. College statistics are retrieved from the U.S. Department of Education College Scorecard.
Reference info only — not financial or admissions advice. Field-of-study earnings/debt figures cover federal (Title IV) aid recipients only and may not represent all graduates. Data source: U.S. Dept. of Education College Scorecard / IPEDS. This Extension is unofficial and is not affiliated with Common App, Niche, College Board, or the U.S. Department of Education.
